IEEE × The Resource Key

Focus: Global framework development, inclusive narrative strategy, and disability-centered standards alignment

Background

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization, with over 500,000 members in more than 190 countries, dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

As part of its Planet Positive 2030 initiative, IEEE sought to shape a future-focused framework rooted in global ethics, sustainability, and innovation. One of the initiative’s core goals was to center human dignity, including disability inclusion as a driver of strong sustainability and design.

To make this actionable, IEEE engaged contributors with lived expertise and strategic insight. The Resource Key played a critical role in the Strong Sustainability by Design chapter, helping ensure the work was grounded in real-world inclusion.

Our Approach

Strategic Contribution to Global Frameworks

The Resource Key contributed to the Strong Sustainability by Design chapter (Guiding Principles) and served on the committee, helping reframe disability as a pillar of human-centered innovation. We brought language that made inclusion actionable, linking access, trust, and sustainability in a way technical audiences could use.

Inclusive Ecosystem Activation

In addition to direct contribution, our CEO Jourdan Saunders introduced additional ecosystem leaders to participate, expanding disability representation across committees and building lasting relationships between IEEE and community-rooted experts.

Education & Influence Within the Committee

Jourdan presented to IEEE committee members on inclusive design and disability innovation, sharing how exclusion happens invisibly in tech development and how to prevent it through lived expertise, trust-building, and human-centered co-design.

What We Delivered

  • Strategic input to global chapter on Strong Sustainability by Design
  • Committee participation shaping high-impact principles and language
  • Contributor referrals to expand ecosystem representation
